Hasan Yıldız calls for collective responsibility in disaster preparedness

At the “Common Power in Disaster Preparedness: Public, NGOs, Volunteers” conference held at the Erzurum State Theatre on October 20, 2026, businessman, producer, director, and author Hasan Yıldız emphasized that disaster readiness is a shared responsibility for all sectors of society.

Yıldız highlighted that reducing the pain caused by earthquakes, floods, and fires requires proactive responsibility before disasters occur. He called for unity between the state, the nation, the business world, local governments, non-governmental organizations, and volunteers, suggesting this cooperation be strengthened through education and regular drills.

Regarding infrastructure, Yıldız stressed the vital importance of safe construction and effective oversight. He urged everyone from contractors and engineers to building inspection agencies and public officials to perform their duties without negligence, noting that every decision, material, and signature carries the weight of human lives. He further advocated for fostering disaster awareness starting within families and extending to schools and workplaces.
