Hasidic leaders meet Trump and Vance at the White House

Hasidic Jewish community leaders from New York and New Jersey held a historic meeting with President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance at the White House. This gathering marks the first time in nearly five decades that the president has met with grand rabbis from the largest Hasidic sects.

During the summit, leaders from communities including Williamsburg, Brooklyn, Kiryas Joel, and Lakewood, NJ, discussed matters affecting both the United States and Israel. A primary focus of the dialogue was the military recruitment crisis facing Israel. The rabbis expressed concern regarding the impact of judicial and political decisions on the enlistment of religious Jews, noting that the resulting decrease in numbers creates an imbalance within the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

In response to these concerns, the leaders requested that the U.S. federal government exert diplomatic pressure regarding Israeli enlistment policies and explore support mechanisms for religious families. President Trump reaffirmed his unconditional support for Israel during the meeting.
