Hassan Dam project in Abyan faces funding delays
Officials in Abyan Governorate, Yemen, have conducted a field inspection of the strategic Hassan Dam project to assess its current status and security measures. The project is approximately 85 percent complete, but construction has currently halted due to funding difficulties.
Remaining work includes the installation of dam gates and water drainage facilities. Local authorities are currently coordinating with the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen to secure the necessary funding to resume operations. Once completed, the dam is expected to play a critical role in managing floodwaters, irrigating large agricultural areas, and recharging groundwater reserves.
