Hassan Djamous International Airport develops new emergency plan
Authorities in Chad have launched a two-day workshop to validate the emergency response plan for Hassan Djamous International Airport in N’Djamena. The initiative aims to ensure the airport meets both national standards and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) regulations.
The plan covers various crisis scenarios, including aviation accidents, fires, unlawful interference, dangerous goods, public disorder, natural disasters, and public health emergencies. The goal is to establish a strategic framework for coordination and resource management to minimize human casualties and maintain flight operations during a crisis.
Minister of Transport, Civil Aviation, and National Meteorology, Fatima Goukouni Weddeye, emphasized that emergency preparedness is a shared responsibility among public authorities and airport stakeholders. This planning is a key step toward the official ICAO certification of the airport, which is a strategic objective within the national political program.
