Hatay concrete company halts mixer use to protect dove nest
In the Kumlu district of Hatay, a concrete company has suspended the use of a concrete mixer for approximately one month to protect a dove nest located on the vehicle.
Driver Mulla Biçer discovered the nest and eggs while performing routine checks after returning from leave. Upon notifying company management, the decision was made to keep the vehicle parked and inactive to ensure the safety of the birds. A warning sign reading ‘Caution, there is a bird nest’ was placed on the mixer to prevent accidental operation by other staff.
The eggs hatched after 21 days, and the company is now waiting for the chicks to reach the 45-day mark when they are expected to fly. During this period, employee Hamza Cankır has been providing daily food and water to the mother dove and her young.
