Hatay driver recovers speech after vehicle plunges into stream
Mehmet Ataş, a driver in the Kumlu district of Hatay, has regained his ability to speak after suffering temporary speech difficulties due to the trauma of a vehicle accident. Ataş was driving a pickup truck from Reyhanlı toward his workplace in the Gülova neighborhood when his vehicle plunged into a stream around 8:00 PM.
Ataş attributed the accident to a lack of warning signs and insufficient headlight visibility, which prevented him from noticing the water. After being trapped in the vehicle for several hours, he managed to use a shovel to navigate through the water and reach the road. Emergency responders, including gendarmerie, ambulance, and fire crews, rescued him from the stream and transported him to a hospital.
Following his discharge, Ataş experienced a period of shock that hindered his speech. He has since recovered his speech and noted that authorities have implemented necessary safety measures in the area following the incident.
