Selbi Uyğur's body uncovered after 14 years, suspects arrested in Hatay

In Dörtyol district of Turkey's Hatay province, the remains of 32‑year‑old Selbi Uyğur were recovered from an orange orchard, ending a 14‑year missing‑person case. DNA testing confirmed the bones belonged to Uyğur. The investigation, coordinated by the Justice Ministry’s Unsolved Crime Investigation Department together with the Hatay Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office and local police, led to the arrest of three suspects – Hatice Uyğur, Yaşar T. and O. Ç. – on charges of pre‑meditated murder. The suspects reportedly killed Uyğur to silence her after she learned of the 2011 murder of her father‑in‑law, Mehmet Uyğur, whose own body was also found in the same area. Over a 15‑day excavation, clothing and skeletal fragments were retrieved, and the court issued detention orders for the three accused.
