Justice Minister Akın Gürlek meets families of Behçet Oktay and Uğur Mumcu

Justice Minister Akın Gürlek held meetings at the Justice Ministry with the families of former Special Operations Department chief Behçet Oktay and investigative journalist Uğur Mumcu. The Oktay family, represented by his brother Burak and sister Şule, asked for a comprehensive re‑examination of the 2009 death that was officially ruled a self‑inflicted gunshot but which they claim may involve the FETÖ network. The Mumcu family, whose patriarch was assassinated by a bomb in 1993, sought an update on the still‑unresolved case and any new investigative steps. Both families emphasized the need to clear lingering doubts and to pursue any possible links to extremist groups, urging the ministry to reopen the files for further scrutiny.
