Hato Mayor traffic accident leaves four people injured
At least four people were injured on Sunday afternoon when a car veered off the road into a ditch near the Peña Alta community in the Yerba Buena district of Hato Mayor province.
The injured individuals have been identified as driver Andrés Vilorio (68), Miguel Vilorio (12), Hipólito Amado Díaz (46), and Franklin de la Cruz (27). Medical reports indicate that Miguel Vilorio sustained a frontal laceration, while Hipólito Amado Díaz suffered an open wound to the chin along with potential fractures to the tibia, fibula, and hip. Andrés Vilorio sustained multiple lacerations and a possible right wrist fracture. Details regarding the injuries of Franklin de la Cruz have not yet been released.
Emergency responders from the Hato Mayor Fire Department and the National Emergency and Security System 9-1-1 conducted rescue operations. The victims were initially treated at the Hospital Provincial Dr. Leopoldo Martínez in Hato Mayor, with some being transferred to the Hospital Regional Doctor Antonio Musa in San Pedro de Macorís due to the severity of their injuries. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
