Hatonuevo: Young man dies after fatal shooting in La Guajira

César José Martínez Álvarez, approximately 23 years old, has died following a targeted shooting in Hatonuevo, La Guajira. The incident occurred on the night of Saturday, September 26, while Martínez Álvarez was sitting on a bench in the Villa Reina urbanization park.

According to reports, two individuals on a motorcycle approached the victim. A passenger partially dismounted and fired multiple shots, striking Martínez Álvarez in several parts of his body, including a severe wound to the head. The attackers fled the scene immediately after the assault.

After being discovered by bystanders, the victim was initially taken to the Hospital Nuestra Señora del Carmen in Hatonuevo. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was transferred to a more complex medical facility in San Juan del Cesar. Despite medical efforts, he passed away after approximately 24 hours of hospitalization. Authorities have conducted technical inspections of the body following his death.
