Hattem fish shop to close after 39 years

Aart ten Have has announced that his fish shop in Hattem will close permanently in February 2027, ending 39 years of operation. Ten Have, who has been working for 51 years, cited several factors for the decision, including his age, health, rising costs of goods, and insufficient customer numbers.

Ten Have also pointed to logistical challenges, specifically the lack of parking near his shop and the disappearance of surrounding businesses. He noted that the current location has become difficult for customers to access due to inadequate enforcement regarding parked vehicles. The closure follows the announcement that Restaurant De Ridderhof will also cease operations on October 1 after nearly fourteen years.
