Hatvan hospital director dismissed following patient death

Miklós György Szedlák has been removed from his position as director of the Albert Schweitzer Hospital in Hatvan by Árpád Tótth, the head of the National Hospital Directorate (OKFŐ). The dismissal follows an investigation into an incident involving the death of an 80-year-old patient.

According to reports, the patient was transported from the hospital in stable condition but was found unresponsive at her home after being taken by a patient transport service. The family alleges the woman was transported in a seated, unmonitored position. Police are currently conducting an administrative investigation into the circumstances of the death.

Investigations are ongoing for both the hospital and the medical transport provider. As a preliminary measure, two employees from the transport service have been suspended from patient care duties indefinitely. Violetta Papp Valentinné, the hospital's medical director, has been appointed as the acting director.
