Hatvanpuszta architect details estate renovation
Dániel Taraczky, the lead architect for the Hatvanpuszta construction project, has provided details regarding the renovation of the historic estate. In an interview, Taraczky described the site as being in a state of near-total ruin when planning began in 2009, noting that the first building renovated, the former staff residence, lacked even a single intact wall.
The 11-hectare model farm, originally established by Count József, underwent significant alterations during the socialist era, including the use of inappropriate materials like asbestos and concrete for repairs. Taraczky stated that the original mandate, provided by Győző Orbán, was to establish an agricultural economy focused on fruit and vegetable production while providing housing and space for large family gatherings.
As part of the redevelopment, former sheep pens have been converted into a technological plant housing fruit storage, processing, and jam-making equipment. The project also includes a guest house, though its scale has been a subject of public speculation.
