Haus Vaterland audio drama launches on ARD Sounds

The fourth season of the audio drama series ‘Haus Vaterland’ has launched on ARD Sounds. Based on the novels by Volker Kutscher, the series is set during the final months of the Weimar Republic and the rise of National Socialism in 1932 and 1933.

The plot follows Inspector Gereon Rath as he investigates a corpse discovered in the elevator of the ‘Haus Vaterland’ entertainment palace in Berlin. The narrative explores the social decay and political instability of the era, contrasting the glitz of Berlin's nightlife with the encroaching terror of the Nazi regime.

Author Volker Kutscher noted that the audio adaptation allows for a unique storytelling approach by merging plots from two different novels, staying closer to the original literary source material than the television adaptation.
