Hauser & Wirth launches virtual reality art department
Hauser & Wirth has launched ArtLab, a new digital art department based in Los Angeles, featuring the Hauser & Wirth Virtual Reality (HWVR) system. This custom technology utilizes tools from architecture, construction, and video game industries to allow artists to visualize exhibition spaces and plan installations globally, reducing the need for travel.
In response to the pandemic, the gallery is accelerating its digital programs to facilitate remote engagement. As part of this initiative, Hauser & Wirth will donate 10% of all sales made through the digital program to the World Health Organization (WHO). One featured virtual space is a pixel-by-pixel model of the future Hauser & Wirth Menorca site.
