Haut-Katanga to reinforce Congolese National Police with 500 recruits

Authorities in Haut-Katanga are working to reinforce the Congolese National Police (PNC) following a request by interim governor Martin Kazembe Shula to the Minister of the Interior and Security, Jacquemain Shabani.

A mission from the PNC General Inspection, led by General Kamana Kanold, visited Lubumbashi on September 21 to evaluate the capacity of the Kasapa training center. This assessment aims to determine necessary infrastructure, equipment, and supervision requirements.

Provincial authorities are planning for an initial contingent of 500 recruits from various territories within Haut-Katanga. A technical team has been mobilized to prepare the training conditions at the Kasapa center. The initiative is intended to increase operational capacity and improve police presence in response to recent incidents of armed banditry in the region.
