Hautes-Pyrénées implements initiatives to attract healthcare workers

The Hautes-Pyrénées department in France is implementing initiatives to increase the attractiveness of healthcare and social care professions. Facing an aging population and a shrinking workforce, the region is addressing the shortage of essential workers such as nurses, nursing assistants, and social workers.

In collaboration with the Regional Health Agency (ARS), the department operates one of 15 specialized platforms in France dedicated to promoting these roles. Project manager Hervé Lustemberger is leading efforts to valorize these careers and improve employee retention among local employers. The initiative highlights the importance of these non-relocatable jobs in the current labor market.
