HAVAG and Stadler optimize TINA trams to reduce vibrations

HAVAG and Stadler are continuing technical and operational optimizations for the TINA trams in Halle (Saale) to address resident concerns regarding vibrations and noise.

Following a second dialogue with a citizens' initiative, the companies reported that implementing a softer wheel variant has already reduced vibrations by at least five to ten percent in measurements. One modified vehicle has been cleared for line service to gather real-world operational data.

Stadler is currently developing an even softer wheel variant and a specialized damper designed to absorb vibrations between the wheel and the rail. Additionally, HAVAG has introduced temporary speed limits at five infrastructure points and is utilizing rail grinding vehicles to mitigate noise and vibration issues.
