Havana International Book Fair concludes with Russia as Guest of Honor
The 34th Havana International Book Fair concluded in Cuba, featuring the Russian Federation as the Guest of Honor. Despite economic challenges including fuel shortages and power outages, the event showcased approximately 1,300 new titles and 2.4 million copies, with participation from 33 countries.
Dedicated to the centenary of Fidel Castro, the fair included various cultural tributes, such as the book ‘Fidel y los maestros voluntarios’ and a graphic humor exhibition titled ‘Fidelidades’. The event also highlighted the work of Cubacine ICAIC, which received recognition for its cultural projects and digital content production.
The Russian delegation provided a significant presence through a dedicated stand featuring classical and contemporary literature, as well as a week-long Russian film showcase. The fair’s activities are set to continue in various provinces through September 6.
