Havana International Book Fair concludes first stage in Cuba

The first stage of the 34th Havana International Book Fair has concluded in Cuba, marking a significant cultural milestone despite the country's current economic difficulties. The event, which was dedicated to the centenary of Fidel Castro, saw the acquisition of over 95,000 printed and digital volumes by the public.

Russia served as the guest of honor for this edition, providing an extensive artistic and literary program intended to strengthen cultural ties between the two nations. Sergey Parjomemko, interim Chargé d'Affaires of the Russian Federation in Cuba, noted that the fair provided opportunities for meetings aimed at future bilateral projects.

The closing ceremony also recognized various contributors, including the Cuban Book Institute and the provincial government of Havana. In the social communication awards presented by the Association of Communicators of Cuba, Editorial Letras Cubanas received the Grand Prize for its digital management and the graphic category award for its visual identity. The fair is scheduled to continue across the country, concluding in Santiago de Cuba on September 6.
