Havanna seeks extrajudicial recovery in Brazil over R$127 million debt

The Argentine confectionery brand Havanna filed for extrajudicial recovery of its Brazilian operations, covering six companies of the group and a debt of about R$127 million. The petition was lodged in São Paulo's 1st Regional Business Court. Havanna says the filing stems from obligations contracted by other group companies, not from its own operational or financial issues, stating: "The extrajudicial recovery process was initiated because of obligations contracted by other companies of the Havanna shareholder group, without relation to operational or financial matters of Havanna."

The group includes a perfume and cosmetics network called Fragrance, controlled by businessman Marcos Rothenberg, which accounts for most of the indebted entities. Four perfume firms and two Havanna‑related firms (Café Del Plata, which runs the stores, and DGA Doces Del Plata, which manages franchises) are part of the process. A separate bankruptcy action against Café Del Plata for roughly R$4 million in unpaid invoices is also ongoing. Despite the legal steps, Havanna says it continues expanding, planning more than 30 new outlets in the first half of 2026 and targeting 700 points of sale by 2030.
