Havan's 35‑metre Statue of Liberty arrives in Tramandaí ahead of megastore opening

A 35‑metre replica of the Statue of Liberty, a signature symbol of the Havan retail chain, was transported from Camboriú in Santa Catarina to Tramandaí in Rio Grande do Sul. The truck covered roughly 450 kilometres and is expected to arrive on Tuesday, after about 24 hours of travel. Once in Tramandaí, the monument will be erected on a pedestal in the parking area of the new megastore, which is slated to open on 15 August with founder Luciano Hang in attendance. The store represents Havan’s 195th location, an investment of R$ 100 million and the creation of about 200 direct jobs.

The statue’s origin traces back to 1994 when a seven‑year‑old boy, Rafael Walendowski, suggested to Hang that the store’s White House‑inspired façade be complemented by a replica of the Statue of Liberty. Hang installed a 25‑metre version in Brusque in 1995, and the design was later standardized to 35 metres and replicated at numerous Havan outlets across Brazil, becoming a prominent brand identifier.
