HAVELSAN announces AVISTA project for advanced underwater technologies
HAVELSAN has announced the AVISTA project, a domestic R&D initiative focused on developing advanced underwater technologies. The project aims to enable precise positioning and 3D underwater mapping in environments where GNSS (GPS) access is unavailable.
By utilizing cost-effective and accessible sensors, the project seeks to overcome high costs and supply chain restrictions associated with traditional underwater sensors. AVISTA is being developed with platform-independent algorithms and a software architecture that allows for integration with various underwater vehicles and the ADVENT Combat Management System.
The technology is intended for both military and civilian applications, including search and rescue, forensic investigations, infrastructure and energy facility inspections, and port security. Additionally, AVISTA will provide the foundational capabilities for HAVELSAN’s ÇAKA Hybrid Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (H-İDA) project. The company aims to have these new underwater products and solutions ready for deployment by 2027.
