Havering Council pledges investment to protect Langton’s Gardens lake

Havering Council Leader Keith Prince has pledged to invest in Langton’s Gardens to protect the site and its lake from the effects of prolonged drought. Due to falling water levels caused by high evaporation and low rainfall, the lake—which relies on groundwater and surface run-off—is facing critical conditions for local wildlife.

Following guidance from the Environment Agency, contractors will soon remove fish from the lake as a precautionary measure to ensure their safety. The Council is currently working with partners to investigate methods for increasing the water supply to the site.
