Havva Çelik Dies After Falling into Euphrates River in Şanlıurfa

A 21‑year‑old woman, Havva Çelik, slipped on a slippery riverbank while attempting to take photographs in the Dorucak (Duracak) neighbourhood of Birecik district, Şanlıurfa Province, Turkey. She fell into the Euphrates River and was quickly carried away by the strong current.

Gendarmerie, rescue and health teams were dispatched, conducting extensive surface and underwater searches. Her body was recovered and taken to the forensic institute for autopsy. Local authorities opened an investigation and warned residents about the dangers of slippery banks and strong currents near the river.
