Hawa Wanyeche wins the Uganda Ladies Open

Tanzanian golfer Hawa Wanyeche won the 75th edition of the Johnnie Walker Uganda Ladies Open at the Uganda Golf Club. Wanyeche secured the title after a dramatic final round, finishing with a total of 228 strokes.

Trailing by four shots at the start of the day, Wanyeche managed to overtake leaders Peace Kabasweka and Keisha Kagoro on the 18th hole. The victory was sealed after Kabasweka and Kagoro struggled on the final par-4, allowing Wanyeche to clinch a one-stroke victory.

President Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania congratulated Wanyeche, stating the win is a source of national pride and demonstrates that Tanzanian golfers can compete successfully on the international stage. Wanyeche becomes the fifth Tanzanian woman to win the tournament, continuing a trend of Tanzanian dominance in the event over the last 13 years.
