Hawadle leaders demand halt to Hirshabelle election process in Hiiraan

Hawadle community leaders, including intellectuals, politicians, and elders, have demanded an immediate halt to electoral and political activities in the Hiiraan region. The demand follows meetings in Beledweyne regarding the formation of the third Hirshabelle administration.

In a communiqué read by former Banadir Regional Administration secretary Hiirey Ahmed Roble, the community stated that any political process conducted without local consent and community agreement would be rejected. Leaders emphasized that the formation of the Hirshabelle administration must be an inclusive process rooted in justice, representation, and power-sharing arrangements agreed upon by all parties.

The statement highlighted longstanding grievances among Hiiraan residents and called for these issues to be addressed through dialogue and mutual understanding. The Hawadle community held the electoral committee and its chairman, Abdikarim Hassan, responsible for any potential unrest or violence resulting from elections held without consensus. They asserted that a durable administration cannot be established while ignoring the aspirations of the Hiiraan people.
