Hawaii braces for Potential Tropical Cyclone One-C

Potential Tropical Cyclone One-C is moving toward the Hawaiian Islands, with forecasts predicting heavy rainfall, strong winds, and dangerous surf. As of August 13, 2026, the system was located approximately 1,250 km east-southeast of Hilo with 1-minute sustained winds of 65 km/h (40 mph).

The National Hurricane Center and Central Pacific Hurricane Center expect the disturbance to strengthen into a tropical storm as it moves west-northwest. Forecasters warn that the system could bring widespread rainfall of 5 to 10 inches, with maximum totals potentially reaching 20 inches, particularly over Maui and the Big Island.
