Hawaii infrastructure repairs cause road closures

Several emergency road closures and infrastructure repairs are underway in Hawaii. The Department of Water has announced an emergency one-lane northbound closure on Kuhio Highway near the intersection of Papaloa Road due to a mainline break. This closure is expected to last until 7 p.m.

Additionally, the State Department of Transportation is closing the Kaneohe-bound lanes of the Wilson Tunnel on Likelike Highway overnight for emergency lighting and pavement marking installations. This work follows damage to poles, circuits, and power lines caused by Tropical Storm Lala on August 16. While the Kaneohe-bound lanes are closed, motorists can use the H-3 Freeway and Pali Highway as alternatives. If these repairs are successful, similar work will be scheduled for the Honolulu-bound tunnel.
