Hawker Hurricane fighter departs Piła after military festival

A historic Hawker Hurricane fighter aircraft, painted in the colors of the 302. Poznań Fighter Squadron, departed from Piła on Monday, August 12, to return to the United Kingdom.

The aircraft was a featured attraction at a Family Military Festival and uniformed services event in Piła. Before its departure, local officials, including Piła Mayor Beata Dudzińska and Piła Starosta Rafał Zdzierela, met with pilot Nigel John Willson to express gratitude for his role in preserving the memory of Polish pilots who fought in the Royal Air Force during World War II.

Willson was accompanied by fellow members of the Polish Heritage Flight project: Derek Edward Rusling, Andrew Peter Dziegiel, David John Harvey, and Clive Charles Denney. The project aims to commemorate Polish aviators through the maintenance and display of historically significant aircraft.
