Hawkers Cove views improved as electricity poles are removed
National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED) has completed a project to enhance the scenery at Hawkers Cove, near Padstow, by removing overhead power lines. Engineers replaced more than a mile of poles and lines with underground cables, covering 1,600 metres of high and low voltage conductors.
The initiative was conducted in collaboration with Cornwall National Landscape, Cornwall Council, local landowners, and a tenant farmer. The project is part of a broader NGED programme aimed at improving protected landscapes in the South West by reducing the visual impact of electricity infrastructure.
