Hawxx announces second album ‘The World Splits Open’

The punk-metal band Hawxx is preparing to release their second full-length album, titled ‘The World Splits Open’. Described as a queer feminist punk metal release, the album aims to balance political themes with personal expression.

The band recorded the project over three weeks at a farm in South Devon, opting for a raw, live recording style to capture their stage energy rather than a polished studio sound. Members Annouli, Hannah, and Jess noted that the process was cathartic and deeply connected to nature, with themes ranging from anger toward the current state of the world to feelings of spiritual belonging.

Specific influences and inspirations mentioned include the band System of a Down and a childhood song from Greece regarding a connection to water, which was incorporated into the track ‘Sacred Water’.
