Hay-on-Wye development proposal includes 84 homes and employment site

A hybrid planning application has been submitted to Powys County Council for a mixed-use development on the outskirts of Hay-on-Wye. The proposal, lodged by Hay-on-Wye Developments Limited and Tai Derw Developments Limited, includes the construction of 84 homes at Gipsy Castle Lane.

Of the residential units, developers state that 25 would be designated as affordable homes and 25 as social rent properties. The housing mix includes 12 one-bedroom flats, 10 two-bedroom houses, 59 three-bedroom houses, and three four-bedroom houses, featuring a variety of detached, semi-detached, and terraced designs.

In addition to housing, the application seeks outline permission for an employment site intended for offices, light industry, manufacturing, warehouses, and distribution businesses. BHB Architects, representing the developers, described the vision as a high-quality scheme designed to meet local residential and employment needs. A decision on the proposals is expected later this month.
