NPB players face retirement and contract non-renewals

Several Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) players are facing career transitions following the conclusion of the season. DeNA pitcher Sota Nakagawa announced his retirement from professional baseball, stating he felt he had fulfilled his goals after 22 years of playing.

Multiple DeNA players were also notified that their contracts would not be renewed for the upcoming season, including pitcher Hayato Horioka, outfielder Ayato Inoue, and pitcher Chihaya Sasaki. Despite the notifications, Horioka, Inoue, and Sasaki expressed strong intentions to continue their professional careers and seek new opportunities, potentially through tryouts.

The Chunichi Dragons also announced they would not renew contracts for outfielder Kenta Bright and infielder Rintaro Tsujimoto. Meanwhile, the Chiba Lotte Marines confirmed the departure of infielder Shogo Nakamura. Although offered post-playing roles by the club, Nakamura declared his intention to continue playing in the NPB to find a new team.
