Hayden Panettiere 911 call released following accidental overdose death
Newly released 911 audio provides insight into the final moments of actress Hayden Panettiere, who was found unresponsive in a Greenville, South Carolina, apartment on August 16. The seven-minute recording, obtained via a Freedom of Information Act request, captures Zach Hickerson—the brother of Panettiere’s partner, Brian Hickerson—reporting the emergency and receiving life-saving instructions from a dispatcher.
During the call, the dispatcher coached Zach through performing CPR and rescue breaths while waiting for first responders to arrive. Reports indicate that Brian Hickerson had also administered Narcan in an attempt to reverse an opioid overdose before emergency services reached the scene. Despite these efforts, the 36-year-old actress was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Greenville County Coroner’s Office ruled the death an accident caused by the toxic effects of a lethal combination of drugs, including fentanyl, alprazolam, 4-ANPP, methocarbamol, and quetiapine. Panettiere, known for her roles in ‘Heroes’ and ‘Nashville’, had reportedly sought help for addiction and attended a rehabilitation facility shortly before her death.
