Hayden Panettiere death ruled an accidental drug overdose

An autopsy by the Greenville County Coroner’s Office has ruled the death of actress Hayden Panettiere an accident caused by the toxic effects of multiple substances. The toxicology report identified fentanyl, 4-ANPP, alprazolam, methocarbamol, and quetiapine in her system. Panettiere, 36, was found unresponsive at a South Carolina residence on August 16, alongside her partner Brian Hickerson and his brother Zach.

Reports indicate Panettiere had recently completed a two-to-three-week rehabilitation program in Malibu, California, prior to her death. Investigators found various drug-related items at the scene, including blue pressed pills testing positive for fentanyl, a straw, and white powder. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is reportedly involved in the investigation, focusing on a potential drug source in Los Angeles.

Additional reports have highlighted family tensions, including a reported disagreement between her parents, Skip Panettiere and Lesley Vogel, regarding the custody of her personal belongings following her passing. A memorial service was held in Malibu in September, attended by friends and colleagues, though her mother and partner were notably absent.
