Hayden Panettiere death ruled accidental overdose involving fentanyl
The Greenville County Coroner’s Office has ruled the death of actress Hayden Panettiere an accident caused by a toxic combination of drugs. The 36-year-old, known for her roles in ‘Heroes’ and ‘Nashville’, was found unresponsive at a residence in Greenville, South Carolina, on August 16.
An autopsy revealed that fentanyl was present in her system, along with 4-ANPP, alprazolam, methocarbamol, and quetiapine. Investigators found a powdery substance in her suitcase and pills on a table that tested positive for fentanyl. Panettiere was discovered by her boyfriend and his brother; despite attempts to administer Narcan and emergency medical intervention, she could not be resuscitated after suffering cardiac arrest.
Panettiere had recently completed a two-to-three-week stay at a rehabilitation facility in Malibu, California. In her recent memoir, ‘This Is Me: A Reckoning’, she had discussed her personal struggles, including postpartum depression and her history with addiction.
