Hayden Panettiere's memoir gains focus following her death

Following the death of actress Hayden Panettiere at age 36, her May 2026 memoir, ‘This Is Me: A Reckoning’, has gained renewed attention. The book serves as a personal account of her life from her beginnings as a child actor through her rise to international fame in projects such as ‘Heroes’ and ‘Nashville’.

In the memoir, Panettiere addressed several traumatic experiences, including sexual harassment and grooming by powerful figures in Hollywood. She also detailed her struggles with addiction to alcohol and other substances, noting how these issues necessitated rehabilitation efforts to regain control of her life.

Panettiere also wrote candidly about motherhood and mental health, describing severe postpartum depression following the birth of her daughter, Kaya, in 2014. She recounted the traumatic nature of the birth, which required seven blood transfusions, and explained the difficult decision to have her daughter primarily cared for by her father, Wladimir Klitschko. Additionally, the book touched upon a domestic violence relationship with Brian Hickerson, who later pleaded guilty to charges related to assaults against her.
