Hayden Patriquin wins mixed doubles at Las Vegas Open

Hayden Patriquin and Anna Bright secured the mixed doubles title at the Las Vegas Open, defeating the top-seeded pairing of Ben Johns and Anna Leigh Waters with a score of 11-9, 11-7. The victory coincided with Patriquin’s 21st birthday.

In a recent podcast appearance, Patriquin revealed that his performance in high-stakes matches, including the PPA Mesa Cup and the Las Vegas Open, has occasionally followed late-night social outings. Teammate Gabe Tardio noted that Patriquin has maintained high levels of play even after staying out until 3:00 a.m. prior to major competitions.

The Las Vegas Open was marked by significant upsets, as Ben Johns failed to secure any of his three gold medal opportunities. In addition to the mixed doubles loss, Johns fell in the men’s singles final to Hunter Johnson and lost the men’s doubles final alongside partner Gabriel Tardio to Christian Alshon.
