Hayden Wilde wins T100 Triathlon in French Riviera
New Zealander Hayden Wilde secured victory at the T100 Triathlon in the French Riviera, competing in Saint-Raphaël and Fréjus. This win follows his recent Ironman 70.3 World Championship title in Nice and a second-place finish at Supertri Jersey. Over a 13-day period, Wilde has earned approximately $200,000 in prize money across three different race distances.
Wilde’s victory in France was a closely contested race that remained open until the final 18 kilometers. Belgian athlete Jelle Geens finished second, 19 seconds behind, while fellow New Zealander Kyle Smith took third place, finishing 24 seconds behind the leader. This win brings Wilde to 96 points in the men’s T100 standings.
Kyle Smith’s podium finish comes after a period of significant personal and health challenges, including a celiac disease diagnosis and a recent accident involving a bus. Smith noted that training alongside Wilde in Andorra has been instrumental in his return to competitive triathlon.
