Hazar Lake Carp Cup concludes in Elazığ

The 3rd International Hazar Lake Carp Cup has concluded in the Sivrice district of Elazığ. The competition featured 48 participating teams who utilized a catch-and-release method to promote sustainable fishing practices.

During the event, 422 carp fish, weighing a total of approximately 2,350 kilograms, were caught and subsequently released back into Hazar Lake. To further support the local aquatic ecosystem, a fish stocking initiative was carried out, releasing 50,000 fish fry into the lake. This included 30,000 carp fry produced by the Elazığ Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry and 20,000 siraz fish fry from the Fisheries and Aquatic Products Research Institute.

The closing and award ceremony was attended by local officials, including Deputy Governor İbrahim Ergin, Sivrice District Governor Yusuf Akın, and Sivrice Mayor Ebubekir Irmak.
