Hazbin Hotel creator reveals existence of opposing deities

Vivienne Medrano, creator of the Prime Video animated series Hazbin Hotel, has introduced a major shift in the show’s lore. During DragonCon 2026, Medrano confirmed the existence of two opposing deities: a “definitively evil god” named Roo and a “definitively good god.”

This revelation alters the established moral framework of the series. Previously, the narrative focused on Charlie Morningstar’s efforts to redeem damned souls through personal responsibility and altruism, rather than through the influence of an omnipotent deity. The introduction of these absolute divine figures challenges the show’s previous approach to religious dogma and the internal logic of its universe, which had largely functioned without a central, all-powerful God figure.
