Hazen High School football season continues despite cancellation reports
The Renton School District has clarified that the Hazen High School football season is still active, refuting online reports that the season had been canceled. Athletic Director Jesse Snyder stated that no decision has been made to cancel the remaining schedule.
The confusion followed a single game forfeit, which Snyder attributed to a lack of available players resulting from injuries, attrition, and academic suspensions. This clarification comes after a Substack report by Mason Kelley suggested the entire season was over.
The Hazen Highlanders, led by first-year head coach Marcus Carr, currently hold a 0-4 season record. The program has faced recent instability following the abrupt departure of former coach Chris Bennett during summer camp.
