H.B. Jassin Cup 2026 celebrates Indonesian literature in Jakarta
The 2026 H.B. Jassin Cup awards ceremony was held at Taman Ismail Marzuki in Jakarta, celebrating a significant turnout of 14,988 participants across four literary categories. The competition included national poetry reading, international short story writing, international literary criticism, and musicalization of poetry for high school students.
During the event, the Five-Century Literacy Movement was officially launched by the Jakarta Library and Archives Service. This initiative aims to prepare for Jakarta's 500th anniversary in 2027 by encouraging citizens, students, and writers to document the city's history and diverse experiences through creative works such as essays, poems, and short stories.
Winners in the national poetry category included Nayla Yuliandri from Sukabumi, while Kristianus Jimy Pratama from Jakarta took first place in the national short story category. The event also featured community exhibitions and open mic sessions to foster a deeper culture of reading and writing within the community.
