HBF+Brazil opens applications to support 11 new Brazilian films

The HBF+Brazil initiative has opened applications for its second edition, aiming to support the development of 11 new Brazilian fiction feature films in their early stages. Each selected project will receive €10,000 to advance its development.

The program is a partnership between the Hubert Bals Fund (HBF) — associated with the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) —, Projeto Paradiso, RioFilme, and Spcine, with support from Embratur. Applications are open until September 10 and are targeted at Brazilian filmmakers working on their second or third feature film with an associated Brazilian production company.

In this edition, the number of supported projects has increased from ten to 11. The distribution includes four slots for projects linked to the city of Rio de Janeiro via RioFilme, and four slots for projects linked to the city of São Paulo via Spcine. Projeto Paradiso will support one project from other regions of the country, while Embratur will support two projects from outside the states of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
