HBO Harry Potter series sets debut date and Season 2 cast

HBO has announced several key casting updates and scheduling details for its upcoming Harry Potter television adaptation. The first season, focusing on ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’, is set to debut on December 25, 2026, with episodes released on a weekly basis through February 2027.

For the second season, which will adapt ‘The Chamber of Secrets’, HBO has confirmed three major additions to the cast. Billy Barratt has been cast as a young Tom Riddle, marking the first time the character will be portrayed in this adaptation. Lenny Rush will provide the voice for Dobby the house-elf, and Bonnie Hill will take over the role of Ginny Weasley. Hill replaces Gracie Cochrane, who stepped down from the role following the first season due to unforeseen circumstances.

The series features an expanding ensemble, including John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, and Kit Harington as Gilderoy Lockhart.
