HBO announces cast for Democracia Corinthiana series
HBO has announced the main cast for an upcoming eight-episode original series inspired by the ‘Democracia Corinthiana’ movement. The production will depict the radical democratic management style adopted by the Brazilian football club Corinthians between 1982 and 1984, set against the backdrop of Brazil’s military dictatorship.
The series will feature Pedro Lamin as Sócrates, Guthierry Sotero as Wladimir, and Davi Araujo as Walter Casagrande. Other key cast members include Humberto Carrão as director Adilson Monteiro Alves, Marco Ricca as Vicente Matheus, and Alessandra Negrini as Marlene Matheus.
The narrative aims to explore the internal political conflicts within the club, contrasting the players' push for collective decision-making with the traditional, centralized management style of the club's leadership.
