HBO announces third season of The Last of Us

HBO has confirmed that the third season of the series The Last of Us is planned for 2027. This upcoming season is intended to be the final installment of the series based on the popular video game franchise.

Following the narrative developments of the second season, the third season will utilize a major storytelling shift by changing the protagonist's perspective. Instead of following Ellie, the story will center on Abby, the character responsible for the death of Joel. This shift aims to mirror narrative techniques used in the games, offering a different viewpoint on the conflict and introducing new supporting characters and storylines separate from the original protagonists.
