HBO is developing a new television adaptation of the Harry Potter book series. The first season, based on ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone’, is scheduled to debut on HBO Max in late 2026. The second season will adapt ‘Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets’, with filming expected to begin in autumn 2026.

Recent casting announcements for the second season include Rafe Spall as Arthur Weasley, Molly Hewitt-Richards as Moaning Myrtle, and Jasper Ambrose as Colin Creevey. The series features a new lead cast, including Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. Other notable cast members include John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore and Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape.

The production, written by Francesca Gardiner and directed by various creators including Mark Mylod, aims to provide a faithful adaptation of the original books. The project continues to draw attention due to the involvement of J. K. Rowling as an executive producer.
