HBO Harry Potter series: Peeves casting confirmed and cancelled prequel revealed

Details regarding the upcoming HBO Harry Potter series have emerged, revealing both a cancelled prequel project and new casting news.

Reports indicate that Warner Bros. previously developed a Marauders-focused prequel series set in the 1970s. This project, which would have followed James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew, reportedly had a completed writers' room and scripts for the first three episodes before CEO David Zaslav cancelled the production.

In contrast, the upcoming main adaptation will include the character Peeves the Poltergeist, a fan-favorite from the books who was famously cut from the original film adaptations. British comedian Peter Serafinowicz has been cast to portray the character.
